Jessica J. Flynn, 37, of DeWitt, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at home with her family by her side after a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.

Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church, Toronto, with Father Francis Odoom officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Toronto, Iowa.

Jessica Jean Riedesel was born March 3, 1978 in DeWitt, the daughter of David and Tracey (Kennedy) Riedesel. She married Joseph Flynn on June 19, 2004, at St. James Catholic Church in Toronto. Jessica was a stay at home mom and devoted her time to making memories with her three sons. She loved to fish and spend time outdoors with her husband and children. She enjoyed get-togethers with her siblings and their families and had a special bond with each of her nephews and nieces. Jessica loved to garage sale and shop and was great at finding a good deal. She was a terrific listener and friend, always willing to lend a hand. She had a heart of gold and a smile that lit up a room. Jessica amazed and inspired us all with her strength throughout her battle with cancer. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was truly a light in all of our lives and she will continue on in the hearts of all of the people she touched along the way.

Jessica is survived by her husband, Joseph; three sons, Lawrence, Landon, and Lawson Flynn; her father and step-mother, David and Lizzie Riedesel; her mother and step-father, Tracey and Scott Holdorf; her mother-in-law, Lisa Cavey; two sisters, Rebecca (Zack) McCoy of Las Vegas, NV, and Stephanie (Mason) Hoel of Lake Bluff, IL; two brothers, Brandon (Ashley) Riedesel of Wheatland, and Kyle (Leandra) Holdorf; one brother-in-law, Alex Flynn; her grandparents, Roy and Barbara Riedesel of Orion, IL, Meta and Michael Brinker of Wheatfield, IN, Patrick Kennedy of Rock Island, IL, and Harlan and Jan Holdorf of Pittsburgh, PA; eight nephews, Cameron McCoy, Collin McCoy, Jackson Riedesel, Logan Riedesel, Brody Riedesel, Preston Riedesel, Owen Riedesel, and Morrison Hoel; two nieces, Natalee Hoel, and Summer Riedesel; and many more aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Lydia Riedesel, great-grandfather, Elmer Holdorf, one aunt, Dawn Kennedy, and one cousin, Hunter Kennedy.
