Janet M. Pelley, 79 of Bettendorf and formerly of Toronto, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018, at River View Manor Nursing Home in Pleasant Valley.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday January 22, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday January 23, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland with Pastor Tessa Cavey officiating. Burial will be in the Saint James Cemetery, Toronto, Iowa. A lunch follow the services at Heinee Jo's in Toronto.

Janet Mary Nicely was born August 27, 1938, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Caes) Nicely. She served her country in the United States Navy. After serving in the Navy, she owned and operated Westside Tavern in Toronto for many years. She loved to garden and took great pride in her flowers. She also enjoyed mushroom hunting and canning fruits and vegetables and was an avid reader.

She is survived by one daughter, Paula (Denny) Dull of Le Claire; three sons, Parrish Pelley of Oceanside, CA, Dana (Joy) Pelley of Toronto, and Patrick (Archana) Pelley of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Anne (Kenneth) Mostaert of Lowden, and Karen Nicely of Davenport; and two brothers, Manny (Kathy) Nicely of Lowden, and Mark (Karla) Nicely of Oxford Junction.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
