Mrs. Mary Hogendobler, an old-time resident of Clinton, passed away at her home, 420 Ninth avenue, today at 8:15 o'clock, aged 76 years and three months, after a prolonged illness, covering a period of nearly four years. Mrs. Hogendobler, nee Miss May Hixon, was born at Grimsby, Ontario, on Oct. 12, 1843, the daughter of William and Marie Hixon, the mother dying when Miss Hixon was 20 years old, leaving her with the care of the younger children.

About the year of 1873 she, together with the rest of her family, came west to Clinton, Miss Hixon starting in the dressmaking business, and was very prosperous in that line, as some of the older residents of the city well know.

About the year 1833 Miss Hixon married Captain John Hogendobler, who died about seven years after their marriage. Mrs. Hogendobler never remarried. Mrs. Hogendobler was a very well read lady and had traveled considerably when younger. However for the past 20 years she had been in declining health.

Mrs. Hogendobler is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jas Burns of Chicago, and Mrs. Jas D. Bennett of Beamsville, Ontario; also one brother, Douglas Hixon, of Beamsville, Ont. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
