Mrs. J. S. Thompson, aged 70 years, passed away at 5 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. B. Johnson, 709 Fifth avenue, after a brief illness of paralysis. Mrs. Thompson was stricken with paralysis last Wednesday morning.

The deceased was born in Indiana in 1848. She came to Clinton about eight years ago, at the time of her husband's death and had made her home here since with her daughter. Surviving her are two sons, B. J. Turner, of Vinton and Clayton Turner, with the American engineers in France; and three daughters, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. N. P. Carl of Vinton and Mrs. E. O. Ellison, of Cook, Colo.

Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Baptist church, and of the Women's Relief Corps.

There will be no funeral services in Clinton. The body will be taken Wednesday morning to Vinton, where the funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

The remains of the late Mrs. J. S. Thompson were taken yesterday to Vinton, Iowa, where burial took place today.
