John (Jack) Michael Banker III, 85 of Clinton, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020 at his home. A private family service will be held with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
John was born in Clinton, IA on January 11, 1935, the son of John Jr. and Eleanor (Smith) Banker. He married JoAnn Ottens in 1952. John co-owned and operated Banker and Ottens Painting and Drywall with his brother in-law Gene Ottens for over 40 years. He was a member of Prince of Peace parish in Clinton. John was an avid fan of both the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears.
John is survived by his loving wife JoAnn; nine children, Merry Hofreiter of Morris, IL, Kathy (Bob) Birkett of Clinton, Pam Banker of Clinton, Kim (John) Chambless of Katy, TX, Jackie (Kevin) Burken of Clinton, John (Kim) Banker of Clinton, Steve (Michele) Banker of Clinton, Paul (Connie) Banker of Fulton, IL and Michael (Lisa) Banker of Waukee, IA; 20 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a sister Judy (Roger) Lemke of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister-in-law Marylyn (Wayne) Wilke of Clinton; brother-in-law and business partner Gene Ottens and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Jeff Banker for all his help and care for John. John was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Donna and Joan and a granddaughter Kelli.
