Paul Davis, age 62 of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his home. Private family services will be held on 11:00 AM Sunday at the Pape Funeral Home. The service will be streamed on Facebook Live (see Josh Davis Facebook page for the service) for those that cannot be in attendance. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.
Paul was born in Des Moines, Iowa on December 14, 1957. He graduated from Hoover High School in Des Moines and later from Clinton Community College. Paul married Pamela Metzger April 14, 1978 in Clinton. Pam passed away in July of 1984. He married Kristi Miller on August 27, 1994 in Clinton.
Paul was an agent with Iowa Bankers Association in Des Moines, IA. He served on the Board of Director's and was Past President of the Clinton Lumberkings Baseball Club and had been very active with the Riverboat Days Committee. He was an official with all sorts of organizations; with the Iowa High School Boys and Girls Athletic Associations as well as the NAIA and NCAA associations in college.
He and Kris enjoyed taking the Harley out on long trips all across the midwest and seeing the sites. Paul loved to sing, whether it was at church or a local karaoke bar, he was able to provide joy to those fortunate to hear him. He was an avid sports fan and could be spotted at minor league or major league ballparks all over the country. His love of sports grew from being an athlete as a young kid, to coaching at all levels of sports. He was a college basketball and volleyball coach, but you could really see his coaching passion come through in the 20 plus seasons of coaching his children's teams. More recently, you could see him at all of the Camanche Indians basketball games supporting the team any way he could. Most importantly, he loved doing all of these things with his family- and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Braden and Emery.
Paul is survived by his wife Kris; 5 children, Joshua (Hilary) Davis of Camanche, Isaac Davis of Iowa City, Solomon Davis of Seattle, Lucas (Lauren) Miller of Chicago and Whitney (Lindsay) Miller of New Jersey, as well as Tyler of Moline, and Jennifer of Dubuque; 2 grandchildren, Braden and Emery Davis; his sister, Kitty (John) Mehner of Orlando, and a brother, Mark Davis of Boston. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pamela; an infant daughter, Bethany; a brother, Dan and a sister, Bridgette. Memorials may be made to the family.
