Elwood, Ia., Feb. 18--Edmund Cook, a pioneer resident of Clinton county, died at his home at Elwood Wednesday morning after a short illness. Mr., Cook was eighty-five years of age at the time of his death.

The deceased was born in Port Colborne, Canada, coming to Elwood in 1842, where he had since made his home. His wife preceding him in death in 1901. He is survived by three sons, E. L. Cook of Tacoma, Wash., A. L. Cook of Maquoketa and D. K. Cook of Elwood, besides one daughter, Mrs. W. S. Hill of Elwood. The funeral was held at the Elwood M.E. church Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Interment took place in the Elwood cemetery. Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Mrs. W. Cook of Clinton and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Shepherd of Clinton. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Will Langham, Walter Myatt, Alex Wirth, Joe Brown, Clarence Irwin and Henry Hicks. The singing was by Mesdames F. W. Busch and W. H. Myatt with Miss Blanche Langham at the organ.
