August William Gosch, an old resident of Clinton, died at Agatha hospital, last evening at 6 o'clock after an extended illness, at the age of 66 years.
The deceased was born September 21, 1851 in Germany, and came to America about 35 years ago, and directly to Clinton. For many years he was in the cleaning and dying business in this city, having learned this trade in his native country. He retired from business about 10 years ago but again took it up for a short period later, again retiring a few years ago on account of declining health.
Last January he suffered a paralytic stroke and never fully recovered from the effects thereof.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Dora Gosch and five daughters, Mrs. C. E. Smith of Monmouth, Ill., Mrs. Claus Schump of Davenport, Mrs. Peter Schick, Mrs. H. B. Dewell and Mrs. R. D. Locke, the last three named being of Clinton.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon from the late residence, 627 Third avenue, the services being conducted by Rev. Hugo Grimm. Burial will take place in Springdale cemetery.

The funeral of the late August William Gosch was held Friday afternoon from the residence, 627 Third avenue, Rev. Hugo Grimm conducting the service. Pall bearers were Rudolph Steudemann, Herman Nammany, Henry Kruetzfeldt, Ben Nickelsen, John Edens and Jerry Hass, and burial was in Springdale cemetery.
Those who attended the obsequies from out of the city were Mrs. Charles Smith Monmouth, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. Claus Schlump, Emma, Hertha, William, Eleanor and Herbert Schlump, Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Joens, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Voght, Manning, Iowa.
