Mrs. Drusilla Homer died yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home of her son, John, in East DeWitt, with whom she had made her home for a number of years. She was 80 years of age last January and had been in poor health for the past two years, during which time she fell and broke two ribs and suffered other injuries which no doubt hastened her demise.

In her long residence in DeWitt she made many friends, all who knew her having for her the utmost respect and kindest regards. As a mother and friend, the most delightfull memory lingers around her name. She was a native of Canada and was born Jan. 31, 1836; was married to J. F. Homer in 1853, he preceding her in death thirty years ago. She came to DeWitt when fifteen years of age and has lived here ever since. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Klose of Iowa City and Mrs. Nellie McCormack, of Clinton, and one son, J. F. Homer, of DeWitt. One son, George M. Homer, passed away two years ago. She is also survived by the following grandchildren: Homer McCormac, Harry McCormac, Drusilla McCormac, Clinton; Lawrence Klose, Iowa City; J. F. Homer, living in Washington and Frederick Homer, DeWitt.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon about 2 o'clock, with services at the house. Interment will be made in Elmwood cemetery.

Drusilla A. Vanderburgh was born in Chatam, Canada, Jan. 31st, 1834. She came with her parents to DeWitt, Ia., when she was fifteen. In 1853 she married John F. Homer. He died June 11th, 1886.

Four children came to this happy home, George F. Homer, who died three years ago, Mrs. W. H. Klose of Iowa City, Ia., Mrs. F. M. McCormick of Clinton, Ia., and John F. Homer of DeWitt. Their are six grand children, John F. Homer of California, Homer, Harry and Drusilla McCormick, Lawrence V. Klose and Frederic Homer and a little great grand daughter, Helen Margaret Homer. Mrs. Homer was a loving, devoted wife and mother. No task was too heavy for her to do for her dear ones--patient, cheerful and gentle, through all of her suffering, with a clear, true trust in her Heavenly Father that "He Doeth All Things Well."

Her death occurred at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon and funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon, conducted by Reverend Witham of the Congregational church. Vocal music was given by Mrs. Hazel Gostick and Nan Kelly assisted at the piano by Miss Esther Brown. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood with Wm. Lee, T. W. Wheeler, A. M. Price, Chas. Arthur, Frank Price, Chas. Arthur, Frank Byrnes and T. W. Kelly as bearers of the pall.
