24 May 1917 - The Clinton Advertiser page 9

Delmar, Ia., May 24--Mrs. Elsie Marie Kroigaard was born Oct. 24, 1842, in Christianfeld, Denmark, Europe, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church, and all her life was a faithful and loyal member.

In the year 1871 she crossed the Atlantic and came to Sabula, Iowa, and in 1872 she was married to M. P. Kroigaard and lived there five years, when they came to Malone, and afterwards came to the home place where she lived thirty-one years, until she died. Her husband died eleven years ago, leaving her and one son, Peter, and one daughter, Minnie, Mrs. Carsten Schmidt, Grand Mound, Iowa. Both her children were very devoted to their mother, and exhibited their love and kindness to make life comfortable and joyous in every way possible.

The deceased was a very pious Christian woman, with a beautiful character. She was of a sunny disposition, very kind and congenial to everyone whom she came in contact with, always ready to help and give good counsel to any one in need.

The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church, Delmar, Ia., May 14, Rev. C. Munson of Norway, Iowa, officiating in the Danish and English language. Two solos were sung by the quartette of the church. The interment was made in Evergreen cemetery besides her husband, who was laid to rest eleven years ago.

Not only do the immediate family of this devoted old mother, both here and in Denmark, where she has a sister and brother besides the sister she has here in Delmar, mourn her sudden death, but a large circle of warm-hearted friends and acquaintances will miss her kindly smile and deeds of love and helpfulness. One more good mother, sister and friend has gone to the heavenly home and earth has been made better and brighter by her simple, quiet life.
