Mrs. A. B. Smith died early Monday morning at her home in west DeWitt. She had been in very poor health the past six months, but has been a patient sufferer. Deceased was born November 27th, 1853, in the Virginia settlement near DeWitt, and has spent her entire life in this community. Her maiden name was Sarah C. Foster. On October 16, 1873, she was united in marriage to Alfred B. Smith. Mr. Smith passed away February 3, 1909. Three sons, Eugene E. Smith, Frank F. Smith and Charles E. Smith; two grandsons, Leslie E. and Raymond L. Smith, of DeWitt; two sisters, Mrs. Charles McLaughlin, of Storm Lake, Ia.; Mrs. Margaret McLaughlin of Shaler, Ia.; three brothers, Grear Foster of Sioux City and James Foster of Whittier, Cal., and Ernest Foster of Long Beach, Cal. survive.

The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Methodist church. Interment will be made in Elmwood cemetery. Mrs. Smith united with the M.E. church in 1885 and has been a most faithful member since that time. She also was a member of the Rebekah lodge, and N. A. Merrill Circle, and the Ladies M.E. Guild. Mrs. Smith was a faithful and devoted mother, and has a host of friends and neighbors whom she made by her cheerful, kindly and gentle disposition.

The funeral of the late Mrs. A. B. Smith was held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Methodist church, and was largely attended by relatives and friends who came to pay their last tribute of respect. Rev. W. H. Mitchell, pastor of the M.E. church, officiated, and during the services sang a solo, and Mrs. W. S. Saltmarsh and Mrs. E. J. Miller sang two sacred selections, "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Flowers were profuse and beautiful. Friends who acted as bearers of the casket were Messrs. G. M. Smith. R. M. Smith, C. A. Eggleston, S. Ackroyd, J. F. McCarl, A. P. Russell, R. L. Baldwin, and H. I. Spawn. Mrs. Margaret McLaughlin of Shaler, Iowa, and Grear Foster of Sioux City, sister and brother of the deceased, were among those present at the funeral.

Others from a distance who attended were Rev. and Mrs. S. S. Smith of Clarence, Mr. and Mrs. John Donielson of Maquoketa, Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Jones of Clinton, Ross and George Pratt of Des Moines, Mrs. Frank Smith and daughter, Miss Grace, George Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lichtenstein of Grand Mound.
