5 July 1917 - The Clinton Advertiser page 6

Mrs. Herman Stodden, aged 23 years, was found dead in bed this noon by her husband when he returned home from work. Her death was a very sad one, and while Mrs. Stodden had been ill a short time ago she was improving rapidly of late and her passing away was entirely unexpected. Death was due to leakage of the heart.

The Stoddens had spent the day yesterday up the river and Mr. Stodden thinking she might be fatigued, told his wife not to get up and get breakfast. But she insisted on getting up and he then told her when he went to work to go back to bed, which she evidently did as when he came home for dinner she was lying on the bed and from all indications had passed away in her sleep.

Deceased was born May 29th, 1894, and was married June 17, 1915. Her death was doubly hard from the fact that a brother died only last winter also from heart trouble.

She leaves to mourn her loss beside her husband, Herman Stodden, her father, Paul Probst, and one sister, Miss Birdie Probst.

No funeral arrangements have as yet been made.
