The death of Wm. Smith, occurred Tuesday evening at 10:30 o'clock at the home, 518 Fourth avenue, due to a hardening of the arteries followed by a paralytic stroke.

The deceased was born in England on Jan. 20, 1846, and came to America with his parents when a youth, settling at Low Moore, Ia. He was united in Marriage to Sarah Ann Cousins of Low Moor and for several years operated his farm, two miles north of that place. In 1894 Mr. Smith removed with his wife and family to Clinton where he had been a resident since that date.

Of the family there remain to mourn his death, the widow, five sons, Charles, Herbert, William and John of Low Moor and Aaron of Hobart, Okla., three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Otto of this city, Miss Sarah at home and Mrs. Clarence Garvin of Milwaukee, also 14 grand children and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later, pending word from the son of Hobart, Okla.

Funeral services for the late William Smith will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home at 518 Fourth avenue. The Rev. H. J. Rendall of the First Presbyterian church will officiate and interment will be made in the Cousins and Smith cemetery, 2 1/2 miles northwest of Low Moor.

The remains of the late William Smith were laid to rest Friday afternoon in Cousins and Smith cemetery, one and one-half miles west of Low Moor. Services were held at 2 o'clock at the home, 518 Fourth avenue, the Rev. H. J. Rendall, officiating.

Acting as pall bearers for the deceased were his sons and son-in-laws, numbering eight. The out of town relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Smith and daughter, of Hobart, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Garvin and family of Milwaukee, Wis., H. Brockelsey of Manila; Will Albert of Denison, Ia., and Charles Borman from Morrison.
