Marie Elizabeth Smith was born April 26, 1893 and departed this life May 6, 1917, aged 24 years and 13 days. She was a member of the Ladies' Aid society of Low Moor, and the Elvira church.

Hers was a true Christian spirit, always placing trust in the Saviour and during her long illness this beautiful trust never wavered, even when the angel of death visited the home on April 20th, and took the infant daughter. Her words, "God knows best," showed her faith in Him, who doeth all things well.

She was a good neighbor, a faithful and loving friend, always ready with a helping hand for the distressed or needy, ready to cover the faults of others with the mantle of charity. To know her was to love her, and her beautiful life can best be described as: Footprints on the sand of time--Footprints that perhaps another Sailing o'er life's solemn main, A forlorn and shipwrecked brother Seeing shall take heart again.

We who are left behind will miss her beloved presence. Her going will leave a void which can never be filled; a wound in our hearts which time cannot heal, but when the path seems a little rougher and our lives more lonely without her, we must try to gain some of her beautiful trust in the Saviour and say God knows best. HER FRIEN
