Friends here have received word of the death of Eldridge Sweeting of Queen City, Mo., for many years a resident of DeWitt. Deceased was 89 years of age. He was united in marriage in February, 1851, to Miss Polly Wilber, who survives him. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Helene DeLauncey, Mrs. Jennie Palmer, Charles Sweeting and Mrs. Hathaway, who passed away ten years ago. Mr. Sweeting when just a boy moved to Coldwater, Mich., where he grew to manhood. In 1890 he with his family moved to Queen City, where he engaged in the mercantile business for over twenty years.
