Chauncey S. Roberts, 89 years old, died early Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. Shumake, 6409 South Mullen street, Tacoma, Wash. Mr. Roberts had been a resident of Tacoma seven years, coming from Lyons, Ia.

He is survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Shumake and Mrs. C. H. Plummer of Tacoma, Mrs. Lucy Elliott of Lyons, Ia., H. H. Roberts of Onslow, Ia., and N. L. Roberts of Chicago, and one sister, Mrs. Lucy Barber of Semton, Va.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the George W. Piper company's chapel at South Tacoma. His grandsons were his pallbearers. Rev. Chalmer Gunn officiating. Interment was in Oakland cemetery.

The above was born in Swinton, Vt. Dec. 22, 1828. Wife died 39 years ago in Lyons. He was a blacksmith in Lyons for many years.
