Albert Atkinson was born in Lincolnshire, England, July 17th, 1840, and passed from earth at his home in DeWitt, Iowa, Jan. 10th, 1917, aged 76 years, 5 months and 24 days.

He came to this country fifty years ago and has made his home in this vicinity ever since. He was united in marriage with Mary Howson Oct. 21st, 1875. His wife, a son, William A. Atkinson, a daughter, Mrs. Earle D. Smith, and eight grandchildren, with whom he was a favorite, survive him. He had one other daughter, Minie Maria, who preceded him to the better land several years ago.

He was the seventh child of a family of thirteen and leaves several brothers and sisters in England.

Twenty years ago Mr. Atkinson became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of which he continued a consistent member until his death.
