In the home here on Miami Street Saturday, January 1st, occurred the Death of Peter Petersen, aged nearly 84 years. He had been ailing for a long time and the death of his aged wife on November 12th last no doubt hastened the end. Death resulted from a complication.
He spent his early life in Germany, he there married Sophia Stock, and they came to America in 1852, settling in Clinton county and engaging in farming. Amassing a competence they retired from active life in 1887, coming to Lyons and settling down. Here they have since resided.
Mr. Petersen was a man of quiet, retiring nature, a good citizen and an esteemed neighbor. His death causes sincere regret to a large circle of friends.
He leaves to mourn his loss four sons, H. H. Petersen, banker at Teeds Grove; Otto Petersen, mayor of Loup City, Neb.; Detlef Petersen, also of Loup City, and August Petersen, of Rockyford, Colorado.
The funeral will take place from the residence on Miami street at 2 p. m. Tuesday, Jan. 4th, followed by interment in Oakland cemetery.
