Col. Milo Smith 1819 – 1904

Col. Milo Smith, who was a civil engineer for the first railway west of Chicago, and who built and operated what is now known as the Northwestern road between Clinton and Cedar Rapids, and was also colonel of the Twenty-sixth Iowa Infantry and brigade commander for eight months, also superintendent of the town Soldiers’ Home for five years, died at Clinton, on the 2d, aged 85.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Springdale Cemetery in Clinton and that he was born January 25, 1819 and died February 28, 1904.
