Obituary for Larry W. Emmert
Larry W. Emmert, 79, of Clinton passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Eagle Point Health Care Center – Clinton.
Celebration of Life gathering will be from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Friday, June 21, 2019 at Larry’s Home 839 13th Avenue North, Clinton, Iowa 52732. He will be buried together with his wife in the future in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Larry William Emmert was born April 8, 1940 in Albany, Illinois, the son of William Earl and Genevieve (Fullick) Emmert. He was a 1958 graduate of Benson Union High School in Benson, Arizona. He served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1964. He married Penny Fife on February 15, 1964 in Galena, Illinois.
Larry worked for General Electric in Morrison, Illinois as a planner for 33 years; retiring in 1995. He was a volunteer for the USS Lexington Volunteer Association. He enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Penny of Clinton, one daughter: Susan Bavery of Clinton; three grandchildren: Joseph (Rose) Shelko of Macomb, Illinois, Erin (Stephen) Cullen of Iowa City, Iowa, and Brad Bavery of Gladstone, Illinois; and two sisters: Janet Craft of Wesson, Mississippi and Susan Vaughn of Benson, Arizona.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his son James Emmert.
