Sunday morning after an illness of two weeks duration with pneumonia John H. Upton of this city succumbed to his ailment, his death occurring at 8:30 at the home of his sister, with whom he had been making his home.

Deceased was born on a farm near Lyndon, Ill., and came to this city with his parents when 14 years of age. He resided here since and was a teamster for a number of years here and up to the time of his illness which was about three weeks ago and he has been failing for a week.

He is survived by one sister, Carrie Upton of this city, two brothers, David and Bert of this city, and four children, Mrs. C. C. Detwiler of this city, Mrs. Fred Gobble of Grand Mound, Wayne Upton and Miss Esther Upton living in this city.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the Detwiler home, 425 South Fifth street, with the Rev. R. C. Keagy of the Lyons Methodist church in charge of the service. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

The remains of the late John H. Upton were interred in Oakland cemetery this afternoon after services had been held at 3:30 o'clock from the home of the daughter of the deceased, Mrs. C. C. Detwiler, at 417 South Fifth street. Rev. R. C. Keagy of the Lyons Methodist church was in charge of the service and Mrs. Ethel Sutton Grabble and Miss Gladys Shadduck sang during the service.
