Worn out from suffering with a lingering illness, Catherine Veronica Manning, 25 years old, passed away at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Manning, 648 Ninth avenue, Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock.

Miss Manning was born in Clinton March 17, 1892, and was educated at St. Mary's school. She was loved and respected as a brilliant young woman, and hundreds of Clinton friends will mourn today her early departure. The girl is said to have borne her suffering without a murmur, and recognized her friends up to the last hour.

She leaves besides her parents, two sisters and four brothers. They are Mrs. William Monahan of Fulton, Ill., Florence, at home, and John, Lawrence, George and Joseph.

Catherine Manning was a devoted member of St. Mary's church, and a member of the Rose Madonna court of Foresters.

Funeral services for the late Catherine Veronica Manning who passed away at her home on Ninth avenue Monday evening, will be held from St. Mary's church Friday morning at 9 o'clock followed by interment in St. Mary's cemetery.

A solemn requiem high mass was held at St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock this morning for Catherine Peronica Manning, 24 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Manning.

Monsignor E. J. McLaughlin officiated, paying a beautiful tribute to her young womanhood and to the life of devotion she lived. He pointed out in his sermon that while some were preparing to live for wealth, others for notoriety and still others for simple gain, the young Clinton woman was preparing for the hereafter. Father Murphy and Father Brady assisted in the ceremony.

Special music was furnished by Raymond Lawson, who sang "Face to Face," and by Mrs. William Boyle, who sang "They Will Be Done."

The pallbearers were Dr. Thomas Herrity, Claude McNeally, Charles Lyall, Harry Johnson, Raymond Dillon and Frank Kane. Burial was made at St. Mary's cemetery.

Those from out of the city who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Thomas Manning, Fall River, Mass., Mr. and Mrs. John Farrell, West Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Carey, West Chicago, Frank Farrell, West Chicago; Gilbert Murphy, West Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ruegg, Chicago, Miss Lily Dillon, Chicago, Miss Julia Kelly, LeClaire, Iowa.
