After an illness of two years with tuberculosis, C. C. James of Clinton passed away at noon today at the sanitarium in Davenport where he has been receiving treatment since July 8th.

Charles James was born at Ironton, Ohio, March 1, 1869. When he was 12 years old he came with his parents to Iowa and settled at Lyons. Here he received his education, graduating from the Lyons High school with the class of 1886. Later he was graduated from the Clinton Business college and entered the employ of W. J. Young as private secretary, filling this office until the death of Mr. Young when he became a salesman for the W. J. Young company.

Later he traveled out of Clinton for the Joyce Lumber Company, the Virginia Rainey Lake company and the Roderick-Schmitt Candy company of Moline.

C. C. James was the son of Benjamin Notlep James and Elizabeth Talbot James. In 1896 he was married to Miss Mildred Flanagan, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Flanagan, of Clinton. Their marriage was solemnized at Baraboo, Wis. August 13.

Two sons are left with their mother to mourn the death of their father. They are Ben and Dick James, both of Clinton.

The body will arrive by way of the interurban tonight and will be taken to the home, 717 Seventh street. No funeral arrangements have been made.

Mr. James was a member of Concord lodge No. 96. A.F. & A.M. of Chicago and of Pioneer camp No. 1, M.W.A. of Lyons.

The funeral of C. C. James, who died Wednesday in Davenport, will be held at his home, 717 Seventh street, Friday morning at 11 o'clock, Western Star lodge of Masons will have charge.

Burial will be made in Oakland cemetery, Lyons, beside his father and mother, former residents of that city.

Those who have arrived to attend the service from out of the city are: Miss Alice Talbot, Polo, Ill.; Mrs. Edith James, Canton, Ill.; Mrs. Joseph Barborka, Chicago; C. C. Flanagan, Chicago; Mr. Scandrett, Prescott, Minn.; H. V. Volkman, Davenport.

The funeral of Charles C. James was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, 717 Seventh street. The Western Star lodge of Masons conducted the service. Burial was made in Oakland cemetery, the following acting as pallbearers: Henry Volkmann, Davenport; A. L. Holmes, Ariel Ball, John Farrell, Ed Kamer, Charles Huffman.

Those attending the funeral from out of the city were: Carroll Flanagan of Chicago, Miss Alice Talbot, Colo., Ill.; Henry Volkman, Davenport, Mrs. Edith James, Canton, Ill.; Mrs. Joseph Morgan, Chicago.
