Edward Hart, Jr., who has been a patient in Mercy hospital in Davenport since last June, passed away Sunday night about 11 o'clock. Mr. Hart was born in 1871 and was aged 45 years. He was owner of a general mercantile store in Toronto and was president of the Wheatland Savings bank. He was first married to Miss Mary Scanlan of St. Louis, March 1, 1901, and to them were born three children. She passed away a number of years ago, and on April 25th of this year he was married to Miss Nellie Wolfe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Wolfe of DeWitt. Among those who survive are his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hart of Davenport; three sisters, Mrs. G. W. Mowery of Big Rock, Mrs. W. V. McGarry of Davenport, Mrs. Vincent Wolfe of Lost Nation; seven brothers, P. C. Hart of Davenport, T. J. Hart of South Dakota, M. B., John, William, Rueben and Steven of Toronto.

Funeral services were held this morning in the Catholic church at Toronto, where interment was also made. A number of DeWitt relatives and friends went this morning to attend the last rites.

Toronto, Iowa, Nov. 1--Ed Hart, Jr., passed away at the hospital at Davenport Sunday night at ten o'clock, after a long illness, and death came as a relief to the suffering patient. The remains were shipped here Monday evening and the funeral was held this morning.

Toronto, Ia. Nov. 8--A gloom of sadness spread over the entire community early Monday morning when news was received of the death of our former townsman and successful business man, Edward Hart, Jr., who passed away at 11 p.m. Sunday evening, October 29th, at the Mercy hospital, Davenport.

Edward Hart, Jr. was born near Toronto in May, 1871, and died October 29th, 1916, aged 45 years. He was first married to Miss Mary Scanlan of St. Louis on March 1st, 1901. To this union were born four children, one dying in infancy. Those surviv ***all of Toronto. He was married for the second time on April 25th of this year to Miss Helen Wolfe of DeWitt. He is survived by his wife, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hart of Davenport; three sisters, Mrs. G. W. Mowry of Big Rock, Mrs. W. V. McGarry of Davenport, Mrs. Wolfe of Lost Nation, seven brothers, P. C. Hart of Davenport, T. J. of Flandreau, S.D., M. B., John, William, Reuben and Stephen of Toronto. The body was shipped here Monday afternoon and buried Wednesday morning. Requiem high mass was said at the church where the largest congregation of relatives and friends gathered to pay their last respects that was ever held in the town. The church was crowded to full capacity and enough outside to refill it. This mark of respect showed, with the many beautiful floral offerings, the high esteem he was held in by the people in the community, where he was born and raised. After services the remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the Catholic cemetery here.
