page 6Another Grand Army man died today as the result of wounds received in the War of the Rebellion, when William Richardson, 538 First avenue, passed away at his home after a serious illness of only a few days.
Mr. Richardson enlisted on the side of the north at St. Louis in 1861, and served three years with the Tenth Missouri regiment of infantry. He fought in the battle of Chattanooga, at Gettysburg and was with Sherman on his March to the Sea. Following the Civil war, he was 15 years in frontier service for the government.
He came to Clinton in the late '90s, and in 1901 he was married to Mary Beason, who with one daughter, survives him. A step-daughter also survives. One son died in infancy. The daughters are Gertrude Richardson and Murda Beason, both at home.
Mr. Richardson has been a member of the Nathaniel Baker post of Clinton for many years. He is also a member of the Masonic fraternity.
Funeral services will be held at the Second Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be made at Springdale cemetery.
