Mrs. Elfreida Diedrich Horstmann, 78, of Wheatland, died Friday at a Mount Pleasant hospital after a long illness. The funeral was at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland with the Rev. Harold Koenig officiating. Burial was in Durant cemetery.

Mrs. Horstmann was born Jan. 12, 1881, in Durant, the daughter of Anna and John Wiebner. She was educated in Durant schools, and married Ernst Diedrich March 6, 1901. They moved to Lost Nation in 1909 and to Wheatland in 1917. Mr. Diedrich died June 25, 1929.

Sept. 27, 1933, she married Gus Horstmann of Wheatland, who died in 1944.

Mrs. Horstmann was a member of St. Paul's church and Ladies Aid, American Legion Auxiliary, Garland chapter of Eastern Star and the Past Matron's club of Wheatland.

Survivors are one son, Robert Diedrich, Davenport; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Patterson, Wheatland; 2 step-sons, Walter Horstmann, Toronto, and Leonard Horstmann, Calamus; one step-daughter, Mrs. Louis Wolf, Lost Nation; one sister, Mrs. Adele Stutver, Davenport; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
