Samuel Armstrong, ten years old, son of Mrs. Lydia Armstrong, 911 Summit avenue, died this morning of diphtheria, according to the city health physician, Dr. H. R. Sugg, who was called to the home after the lad had been attended by a doctor for the first time yesterday. The boy had been sick since last Sunday but according to reports no physician had been called.

Other members of the family reported having had sore throats for several weeks. They also tell of having visited friends in Savanna, Ill., recently, where the children had been suffering with sore throats. The authorities at Savanna have been notified of the Clinton boy's death.

The funeral will be held under the direction of the board of health. The body will be placed in the vault at Springdale cemetery and when the family is released from quarantine it will be taken to the family lot at Thomson, Ill. for burial.

The city health physician reports the death today the second in five years in the city of Clinton from a contagious disease and both cases proved fatal within five hours after a doctor was called for the first time.
