page 7Mrs. Sarah Bristol, one of the oldest residents of Clinton county, passed away at 11 o'clock Sunday night at her home, west of Camanche, where she had lived for sixty years. Intelligence of her death brought sincere regret today to many friends in Clinton and vicinity.
Mrs. Bristol was widely known in this part of the country. Had she lived until September 8th, she would have celebrated her 88th birthday anniversary, and always on the occasion of her anniversary, there was a big picnic at the Bristol farm, friends coming from far and near to enjoy the day with the good old lady, so that the annual Bristol picnic near Camanche came to be a noted event.
Mrs. Bristol was stricken with paralysis on November 18th, and had since been confined to her bed. She is survived by two sons, C. S. Bristol, who lives on the farm, and E. E. Bristol of Chicago, who arrived in the city today, and went to Camanche. She also leaves an aged brother, Captain I. H. Dunster, who lived at her home. Captain Dunster was at the head of a company during the Civil war.
The funeral will be held from the farm home at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning.
