Carrie Porter was born in Clinton County, Iowa, near Teeds Grove, May 23, 1870, and died May 14, 1916, aged 45 years, 11 months and 22 days, erysipelas being the cause of her death.

At the age of nine years she came to Grundy county with her mother, brothers and sisters, and grew to womanhood on the farm north of town.

She united with the Congregational church at Reinbeck, in 1898, in which fellowship she remained until her death. She was a worthy Christian woman in all the offices of life, a good and faithful wife and mother, and a constant and helpful friend. And the hearts of all who knew her go out to the bereaved husband and children in their sudden an deep affliction.

In 1902 she went to Clinton county to care for an aunt. While there she was married to John Rohr on June 16, 1904. They lived in Clinton county until last February when they moved to Waterloo.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, three children--Emma and Frank, and Myrtle Brigham, a daughter by a former marriage; two brothers--Albert Porter of Reinbeck and Sherman Porter of Dike, Iowa, two sisters, Mrs. Hugh Smiley and Mrs. John Cooper of Reinbeck, besides many friends.

The floral offerings were beautiful and profuse.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, May 17, at 2 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Hugh Smiley, conducted by Rev. A. W. Sinden, pastor of the Congregational church, and the body was laid to rest in the Reinbeck cemetery.

The family have moved to Reinbeck and expect to make this their permanent home.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were Geo. McClintock, of Almont, Iowa, Mrs. Susan Robinson and daughter Eleanor of Lyons, Iowa, Mrs. Nellie Hammond of Sabula, Iowa, Mrs. Ed Doyle and Miss Clara Jackson, of Teeds Grove, all cousins of Mrs. Rohr, Herman Rohr, of Sioux City, a brother of Mr. Rohr, Sherman Porter and family, Mrs. Ethel Cowie and Miss Mae Harris, all of Dike, Clarence Porter, student from Ames, Louis Porter and Merle Cooper, students at Cedar Falls. --"Reinbeck Courier"
