page 6Word was received here this morning of the death of Dr. J. J. Matthews at Maywood, Ill., where he had been living with his son and daughter. Dr. Matthews and his family are well known in this city, having made their home here for a number of years, during which time he was local postmaster.
The family left here some years ago to move to Maywood, Ill., where they have since resided. The remains will be brought to this city and are expected to arrive Saturday at 2:20 o'clock. Services will be held at Oakland chapel at 3:30 and interment will be in Oakland cemetery.
Dr. Matthews is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Nannie Patrick of Maywood, Ill., and three sons, Jay Matthews of Cherokee, Ia., Fred Matthews and John Matthews of Maywood, Ill.
