page 7Mrs. Elizabeth Burke, wife of John Burke, passed away at 12 o'clock last night at St. Anne's hospital, Oak Park, Ill., where she had undergone an operation several days ago. Pneumonia set in after the operation, proving fatal.
The body will be brought to this city for burial, and services will be held at St. Mary's church, either Saturday of Sunday, the exact time to be announced later.
The deceased was born in Marland, near Rockdale, Lancastershire, England, February 11, 1849. She was married in England to John Burke in 1867, and a few days later they came to Clinton where they made their home for about 30 years. In 1900 they removed to Oak Park, where they have since resided. Surviving Mrs. Burke are eight daughters and three sons, Mrs. S. D. Robb of Clinton, Mrs. George Garlock of Rock Island, Mrs. A. R. Kellogg of Ames, Mrs. E. M. Bannister and Miss Helen Burke of Oak Park, Mrs. J. L. Kerr, Mrs. J. V. Doyle and Miss Gertrude Burke of Panama; Robert Burke, T. E. Burke of Salt Lake City, and H. J. Burke of Chicago. She is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, living in England.
Mr. and Mrs. Burke would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary next March, had the latter lived until that time. Intelligence of her death was received with deep sorrow by many old friends in Clinton. Mrs. Burke was loved and respected by all who knew her, and her death is sincerely mourned.

page 5The funeral of the late Mrs. John Burke, who passed away at her home in Oak Park, Ill., Wednesday night will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with services at St. Mary's church.
The remains will arrive in Clinton at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and be taken to the home of S. D. Robb, on Ninth avenue, from where the funeral will be held Sunday. After services at the church interment will follow in St. Mary's cemetery.
