William Desmond of St. Louis, a cousin of the late William Desmond, formerly sheriff of Clinton county and United States marshall, is dead at his home in St. Louis. The St. Louis man was chief of detectives in that city for many years, and visited here and in DeWitt numerous times. He is said to have been one of the most noted criminal-catchers of the country.
