GIRL DIES FROM BURNS RECEIVED AT FARM HOME
ESTHER DUNN VICTIM OF FATAL ACCIDENT MONDAY NIGHT
HER CLOTHING WAS IGNITED
Blazing Oil from Kerosene Can Envelopes Her in Flames--Passes Away This Morning

Esther Dunn, aged 23 years, daughter of Mrs. J. P. Dunn, living five miles west of Clinton, died at 4 o'clock this morning from the effects of burns received Monday night when a can of kerosene exploded in her hands, throwing the blazing oil over her body.

The accident was a most deplorable one. Miss Dunn attempted to light a fire in the kitchen stove at 5 o'clock, and threw some of the kerosene onto the wood. Unfortunately there were sparks beneath the ashes and a flame instantly sprang up, igniting the kerosene in the can. The explosion instantly followed.

The girl rushed from the house with her clothing in flames. Her mother and sister followed her, and finally succeeded in extinguishing the blaze with the aid of blankets. But the girl had been fearfully burned before this could be accomplished.

Dr. Walliker was immediately called and made all speed to the scene of the accident. A nurse also was called, and everything possible was done to alleviate the sufferings of the girl, who remained conscious until about 3 o'clock this morning.

Esther Dunn was born on the farm which was the scene of the fatal accident last night, and spent all her life there. She was popular with many friends, and was like and respected by all. Intelligence of her sad demise brought sincere regret to her friends today, while the sorrowing mother, one sister, Miss Loretta Dunn, and two brothers, James and John, who survive, have the sympathy of all.

The funeral arrangements were not announced today.
