17 April 1916 - The Clinton Advertiser

George Timothy Peavey passed away at 3 o'clock this morning at Agatha hospital.

The deceased was born at Stillwater, Maine, on December 26, 1852. He was united in marriage to Miss Sadie Gead at Bangor, Maine, in 1872, his wife passing away at Bay City, Mich., in 1879. To them were born two children, a son and a daughter. The son died and is buried at Lewiston, Maine. The daughter, Mrs. Mabel Pulsiver, lives at Lewiston.

In 1887 Mr. Peavy was married to Miss Sadie Meacks of Chicago, his second wife surviving him. The couple came to Clinton in 1899, where they made their home ever since.

Mr. Peavey's health had been failing for two years, ending in heart trouble, and a general breaking down of his system. In his boyhood in the Maine woods he had an enviable reputation as a hunter and trapper of big game, and found his chief pleasure during the past decade or two of his life in his annual hunting trips on the river in the spring and fall.

On April 7 he was taken to Agatha hospital, where he had received treatment up to the time of his death at 3 o'clock this morning. Surviving the deceased are seven brothers and sisters, William and Frank and Mrs. Mamie Oyen of Chicago, Mrs. Annie Burns of Cedar Rapids, Edward and Louis of Minneapolis, and Henry, Ira Daniel of Bangor, Maine.

The Peaveys connected with the northern flour mills are cousins of the deceased.

Mr. Peavey was a blacksmith in the employ of the C & N W, for years, in charge of the big forge, and was one of the most expert men in heavy welding in the employ of the company. Later he was given the expert tool dressing, until last fall, when failing health made it necessary for him to cease work most of the time.

He was a charter member of America lodge of Odd Fellows, and past grand, a member of United encampment and a past chief patriarch, and a member of Canton Twin City No. 24, and a retired captain. He also had membership in Clinton lodge, Mystic Workers of the World.

It is expected the funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house, in charge of the Odd Fellows.
