WELL KNOW RESIDENT OF THIS CITY DIES AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS.
FUNERAL FRIDAY
Deceased Had Lived Here for Nearly Half Century -- Funeral Services With High Mass Will be Held at St. Irenaeus Church.Mrs. Thomas Barnes, a resident of this city for over forty years, died at her home, 412 North Ninth street, Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Her death caused by a complication of diseases was not altogether unexpected as she had been failing in health for some time past. The deceased was born in County Mayo, Ireland, in 1830 making her 83 years of age at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to Thomas Barnes at the old home in Ireland. They came to Chicago in 1865 and about six years later they moved to this city where they made their home ever since.
The deceased is mourned by the following: her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Thomas McAuliffe, 330 Division street, two sons, Patrick and Thomas Barnes, both of this city.
The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Friday morning at St. Irenaeus church with a high mass, followed by interment in Calvary cemetery.The Clinton Herald, Sept. 19, 1913

Last Sad Rites Over Late Mrs. Thomas Barnes--Held Friday Morning in Presence of Many Friends.A large number of friends of the late Mrs. Thomas Barnes gathered Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Ireneaus church to pay their last respects to the deceased. A solemn high mass was celebrated by Rev. James Comfard, who also preached an appropriate sermon. Interment took place in Calvary cemetery. The following friends acted as pall bearers: A. J. Hand, T. J. Hudson, M. W. Barry, James McQuillian, Thomas Hannaher and Patrick Malley.
