DeWitt, Sept. 13 -- A few more ?? of the death of John Gravert of Deadwood, S. D. are ?? at present. Mr. Gravert was in the employ of the C. B. & Q. railroad at the time of his death and was accidentally killed by the ??. He was 56 years of age and was born at Holstein, German, coming to America when he was 22 years of age and in 18?4 was married to Katharine Miegeelsen, who with six children survive him. The remains will be brought to Clinton on Sunday night over the C. B. & Q railway and will then be forwarded to DeWitt for burial.

The remains of John Gravert, who was killed in a railroad accident at Deadwood, S. D., were brought here for burial yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the funeral procession proceeding at once from the C & N. W. depot to Elmwood cemetery.

The services at the grave were conducted by Rev. Fred Lothringer of Grand Mound and were largely attended by relatives and friends.

The remains were accompanied by his wife and four sons, Henry, Frank, George and Melvin.

Mr. Gravert was well and favorably known in this vicinity where the family had lived several years ago. He was industrious and honest and commanded the respect of those who knew him and much sorrow is manifested at the untimeliness of his death.

The pall bearers were Messrs. Hans Hanson, John Griebel, George Henrickson, Will Carsten and Thos. Thomson.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Herring and son, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Baker and Mrs. Nicholson of Clinton and Mr. and Mrs. Lorry Smith of Chicago.
