8 February 1916 - The Clinton Advertiser
The sad and untimely death of Mrs. Wm. Duke occurred Saturday morning at her home, 4 miles southwest of town, after a lingering illness with cancer and complications. She is survived by her husband and five children, Mary, Ora, Malinda, Lillian and James, besides a host of relatives and friends over whom her death has cast a pall of sorrow. She had but a week ago been moved into her beautiful and modern home, where she had hoped to spend years of comfort and happiness, but the Grim Reaper, Death, entered and took a kind and faithful wife and mother, and her place in their home can only be filled with her memory. Her burial took place from the late residence. Interment was made in DeWitt, where a large concourse of relatives, friends and neighbors gathered to pay their last tribute of esteem to one who will be most sadly missed. Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones in their deep sadness. Interment was held at Elmwood cemetery, DeWitt, this afternoon.
