9 February 1916 - The Clinton Advertiser

This morning at her home 107 North 9th St. occurred the death of Mrs. Mathilda Louise Probst, after an illness of about a year, death being due to complications of diseases.

Mrs. Probst was born in Germany and was 74 years of age at the time of her death, which was five-forty-five this morning. She is survived by two daughter, Mrs. Chas. Eversen and Mrs. S. Snart, two brothers, Will and Paul Probst, all of whom reside in this city.

Mrs. Probst's brother, Christian Bomko was killed some time ago and it will be remembered that the remains were brought here for burial. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon from the home on North Ninth street and burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Matilda Louise Propst will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Hugo Grimm will officiate and interment will be made in Oakland cemetery.

The deceased was born in Germany June 18, 1841. She was married to William Propst and seven children were born to them, one dying in infancy. Forty-five years ago they came to Lyons and have lived here ever since. Her husband died in 1884. Mrs. Propst had been ill for the past year.

She is survived by two sons, Paul and William of Lyons, four daughters, Mrs. Ed Creiber of Florida, Mrs. Fay Wilmot, of Chicago and Mrs. Sofia Snart and Mrs. Emma Everson of Lyons, thirteen grand-children and one great grand-child.

The remains of the late Mrs. Matilda Probst were laid to rest Saturday afternoon in Oakland cemetery. Services were held at the home in charge of Rev. Hugo Grimm. The pall bearers were Henry Haslach, Henry K?, Hans Wulf, Carl David and Jens Asmussen.
