T. H. Sedgwick, who has not been expected to live for some time, breathed his last at the home of his daughter Mrs. Geo. S. Skinner, Thursday night. The many friends he has made since his residence in the city received the news with sorrow, although it was known he could not survive much longer.
Mr. Sedgwick suffered a stroke of paralysis about a year ago and has been an invalid ever since, although able to be out during pleasant weather. The immediate death resulted from a stroke of paralysis which occurred last Sunday night. He soon lost consciousness and suffered no pain during his last hours.
Deceased was a few months over 74 years of age having been born in Rochester, New York, Feb. 27, 1827. He removed to Woodstock, Ill., with his family when he was 15 years of age. He was married when 24 years old to Miss Laura S. Parsons. From there he removed to Moline, Ill., and in 1887 came to Clinton. He was connected with the Clinton Abstract and Title Guarantee company from 1887 to about a year prior to his death.
He leaves besides his wife, four children, one daughter, Mrs. Skinner and three sons C. C. and W. L. of Sioux City, and J. E. of Waterloo. All were at his bedside at the time of his death except C. C. Sedgwick who arrived later.
The funeral will take place from the Skinner residence in Ringwood this afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. Dr. Fowler of the First Presbyterian church will conduct the services. Interment will take place at Oakland cemetery.
Deceased was a member of Gen. N. B. Baker post G. A. R., who will attend the funeral. He served during the war in Company H., Ninety fifth Illinois volunteer infantry.
