SUICIDE NEAR DEWITT.
Patrick Howe, a Farmer, Hangs Himself in a Barn.
Patrick Howe, a farmer living with his mother three miles southwest of DeWitt committed suicide by hanging. It is thought he was mentally unbalanced at the time.
Mr. Howe was overcome by the heat some time ago while working on the North Western tracks. He was taken to the asylum at Independence and was discharged arriving home Monday afternoon at about two o'clock. He seemed happy and perfectly sane but about an hour later he was found suspended from one of the rafters in the barn near the house. He was twenty four years of age and up to the time of his first illness had lived at his mother's house.
Coroner Hamilton was summoned and held an inquest Tuesday afternoon.
