A mother's death is always seemingly more sad than that of any other relative, and especially if the mother be taken suddenly from the care and companionship of children. The city was indeed saddened Saturday to learn of the death of Mrs. Theodore Case, the evening before at Agatha hospital, where she had gone to be operated on for strangulated hernia, the operation having been withstood, but death resulting in two hours afterward. Her suffering was indeed intense, and the surgeons say that death would have resulted within two days, had not the operation, the only chance of saving her life, been done. A lady of rare social gifts, modest home, loving earnest in her friendships, she will be missed from a large circle of friends, besides the relatives who loved her dearly. Her life was given to her husband and children, who are oppressed with the sudden and terrible sorrow, as the mother had been taken to the hospital only the forenoon preceeding the death.
Minnie May Mewherter was born to Dr. and Mrs. Mewherter, at their Pennsylvania home, coming with them to Clinton, when a girl, where she had resided ever since, being married to Theodore Case in Dubuque eighteen years ago the thirteenth of last October. They had resided in this city and here were rearing an interesting family, a son now seventeen, an operator with the N. W., a daughter of eleven, and a little boy of five. Six brothers and two sisters also survive the deceased.
The funeral will occur at the home this afternoon at 2:30, Hart Co., U. R. K. P., attending as an escort, with respect to the bereaved husband, who has been a valued member many years.
