Ruth Schau, 82, of Lost Nation, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Wheatland Manor.

Her funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lost Nation. A visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lost Nation. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lost Nation. Lahey & Dawson Funeral Service is caring for Ruth’s family at this time.

Ruth was born on October 17, 1936 in Grand Mound, Iowa to John and Josephine (Green) Hahn. She graduated from Grand Mound High School. On June 25, 1955 she married Ronald J. Schau at Ss. Philips & James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, Iowa. Ruth worked at Citizens State Bank for 31 years as a bank teller. She was a member of multiple card clubs and WWS. She enjoyed volunteering at the Lost Nation Food Pantry, Lost Nation Scoop and at the voting booth for many years. Her faith was important to her and she was very involved in the church, including being involved on the church council.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children; a daughter, Julie DeMoss, Elwood; three sons, Dan Schau, Bennett, Jerry (Cindy) Schau, Monmouth, and Steve (Annette) Schau, Anamosa; a son-in-law, Dan Claus (LeAnne), Delmar; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Joyce Bartling of Wheatland and Betty Schau of Calamus and a brother-in-law Les (Phylis) Schau of DeWitt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald, a daughter Peggy Claus, sisters; Marcella (Dan) O’Brien, Mary Lou (Dale) Rathje, brothers; Harold (Mary) Hahn, Johnny Hahn, sister-in-law Helen Schau and brothers-in-law Merlyn “Buck” (Irene) Schau and Marvin Schau.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice in memory of Ruth.
