Obituary for Margaret Julia Service
Margaret Julia Service, age 78 of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Hanover, Illinois, died on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Alverno Healthcare Facility in Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover. A visitation will be held prior to the mass from 9:00-10:45 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. A memorial fund has been established.

Margaret was born February 17, 1939, in Gratiot, Wisconsin, the daughter of Hans and Margaret (Barron) Wild. She was raised in Hanover and attended Hanover schools. Margaret married Dale Service on April 29, 1973 in Galena, Illinois. They celebrated 33 years of marriage until Dale’s passing on November 9, 2006 in Galena.

Margaret worked for the Eaton Corporation for many years before retiring in 2000. She loved playing golf, sewing, crocheting, cooking for her family, and scrapbooking. Most of all, Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Margaret will be dearly missed by her daughter, Kathleen (Tony) Benavides of Camanche, IA; seven stepchildren, Dale Service of Fairfield, IL, Dallas (Jaul) Service of Carbondale, IL, Douglas (Pam) Service of Fairfield, IL, and Donald Service of Springerton, IL; Christine Angello of Aurora, IL, Carla (Randy) Birtles of Holland, MI, and Cheryl (Kevin) Seabaugh of Girardeau, MO; 4 grandchildren, Carter Shaw, Ethan Benavides, Isaac Benavides, and Emmersyn Benavides; 18 step grandchildren and many step great grandchildren; two brothers, Herman Wild, and Pat (Deanna) Wild, both of Hanover, Illinois; and three sisters, Alberta Wild, Donna Eadie, and Nellie (Nick) Bainbridge, all of Hanover.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Hans and Margaret; her husband Dale; a granddaughter Julia Shaw, and a step granddaughter, Jennifer Service; one sister, Mary Wild; and five brothers, Fred, John, Mike, Bill, and Tom Wild.
