Corabelle Smith, 85, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Living Center North on Saturday, June 3, 2017. Honoring her final request, cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Corabelle was born May 22, 1932, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Bernita (Petersen) Smith. She was a 1951 graduate of Elvira High School. Following High School, she immediately began her nursing career, studying for three years at Jane Lamb Hospital, as well as, training at the Cincinnati Childrens Hospital, ultimately becoming a registered nurse in 1954.

Corabelle worked at Jane Lamb Hospital in the pediatrics and surgical units. She also worked at Service Rubber in the Quad Cities, a manufacture of boots for fireman, as an industrial nurse. Additionally, she worked as a nurse in Davenport at the Family SARUS and the Quad City Drug Program.

Corabelle enjoyed traveling, especially to California and Nevada. She also enjoyed taking photographs and loved her pets dearly.

Corabelle is survived by one daughter Julie of Colorado; two grandchildren Jamie and Lindsay with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Corabelle in death were her parents.
