Janet Ann Domer, 76, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. A Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. A visitation will occur one hour prior from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service with burial at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Janet was born January 3, 1941 in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Phyllis (Wilson) Haas. In her early years, she was a restaurant waitress and also a caregiver at various nursing homes.
Janet met her lifelong partner, Chuck Julian, in 1972 - they were together for 45 years.
She was a member of the Bethel AME Church.
Janet loved reading and listening to music. She also loved to dance in her younger days. Above all she loved her family very much and will be sadly missed.
Janet is survived by her longtime partner Chuck Julian of Clinton, IA; four daughters Deb (Rocky) Zimmerman of Cedar Rapids, IA, Michelle (Brett Wheeler) Bedke of Lincoln, NE, Sherry (Jerry) Walen of Dubuque, IA, Tonya (Steve) Naber of Dyersville, IA; two sons Jody (Cynthia) Tobin of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Damon Julian of Clinton, IA; four grandchildren locally Ty Hatheway, Kyle Julian, Bryson Julian and Julietta Turner all of Clinton, with several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters Colleen Klein of Manchester, IA and Sue York of Marian, IA; one brother Mike (Julie) Murray of Cedar Rapids, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Janet in death were her parents, her step-father - whom raised her, two brothers and two brother in-laws.
