Mary Joan (Kerr) Moore, 78, of Cashton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29, at her home in Cashton.
Mary Jo was born on January 20, 1939, in Clinton, IA to Joseph and Mary (Enwright) Kerr. She spent her childhood years in Fulton, IL, graduating from Fulton High School in 1957 and went on to obtain her nursing degree from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Clinton, IA, and California.
Mary Jo married Thomas Moore on November 25, 1961 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton, IL. They moved to Lompoc, CA returning to Fulton, IL in 1963 where they raised five kids. They moved to rural Cashton in 1974 before moving into town in May 2016. Over the years, Mary Jo was involved in Sacred Heart Catholic parish and Cashton Lions Club, and enjoyed bowling and golf; reading, traveling and crochet. Mary Jo also enjoyed visits with former classmates, family members, and friends. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Her parents, an infant daughter and her only brother, Charles Kerr, precede Mary Jo in death.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband Tom; children Theresa Becker of MN; Chris (Maria Cristina) of Switzerland; Colleen of Decorah IA; AJ of Cashton; Matt (Kelly) of West Allis WI; grandchildren Austin (Mike Gotsch) of Milwaukee; Thomas (US Navy); Amy of MN, Caitlyn of MD, Courtney of CA, Mary of IA; and extended family, including Pam and Rick.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 5, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cashton. Father Michael Klos will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation Thursday, May 4, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to conclude at 7:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton. Family and friends are also invited for visitation Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements.
