Tim Petersen, 71, of Clinton, passed away, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at his home.
Graveside Services will be 11:00am, Friday, April 28, 2017 at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will also be conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Timothy Lee Petersen was born on October 22, 1945 in Clinton, the son of Leroy and Virginia (Naeve) Petersen. He was a 1964 graduate of Clinton High School. He served in the United States Army from November 1965 through October 1969 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant; stationed in Germany with the 6th Battalion 10th Artillery with 7th Army, and in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Air Mobile during Tet 68 receiving a purple heart.
Tim married Sally Glendenning on November 27, 1971 in Clinton. He was an electrician at EI Dupont for 39 years retiring May 2003.
Tim was a member of the Clinton AMVETS, and past chaplain of the American Legion. He was a member and past commander of the Camanche VFW. He served on the funeral honor guard. He was also a past director of the 1st Gateway Credit Union and the Clinton Humane Society. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed woodworking, and spending time in Wisconsin.
Tim is survived by his wife: Sally of Clinton; his daughter: Trisha (Aaron) Casler of Waukee; his grandchildren: Ellie and Cole Casler; one sister-in-law: Bonnie (Gary) Huss of Camanche; two brothers-in-law: Jeff (Judy) Glendenning of Clinton, Dr. John (Becky) Riddle of Memphis, Tennessee; one niece: Heather (Stephen) Hill of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, one great-nephew: Tyler Hill, one nephew: John Riddle, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee, and one aunt: Verna May Petersen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister: Patricia Riddle and his grandparents: Gus & Mary Petersen, and Henry & Josephine Naeve.
Memorials can be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
