Edwin O. Smith, 76, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, April 24, 2017 at his home.
Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Budde, Michael Chad Roseland, Jason Long, Tyler Hansen, Christopher Nixon, Andrew Nixon, and Dustin Ewalt. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Tonya Long. Edwin Orlando Smith was born on May 18, 1940 in Bethel, Maine, the son of Sherman and Margaret (Barlow) Smith. He served in the United States Army from 1957-1961. He married Eleanor Kohl on June 17, 1983 in Clinton; she died October 20, 2013.
Edwin was a carman for the Union Pacific Railroad for 29 years. He enjoyed fishing, gambling, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading and watching a good Western.
Edwin is survived by his four daughters: Dianna Petersen, Linda Budde, Donna Hartson, and Eleanor Sue (Andy) Nixon all of Clinton, a great-grandson that he raised: Tyler Hansen of Clinton; 7 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren; and step-siblings: Sherman Emery, Gerald Emery, and Madeline Ericksen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother.
