Anna Lou Sonderman, 78, of North Fort Myers, FL, died on April 3, 2017, at home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 11:00 am at St. Michael Lutheran Church, Fort Myers.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
She was born May 4, 1938, in Clinton, IA, to Christian and Marian Hartmann. She was a graduate of the University of Iowa and taught English and Spanish at Mt. St. Clare High School. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton, and then St. Michael Lutheran Church, Fort Myers, and P.E.O. Chapter FT. She volunteered for many years in the Lee Memorial Health System.
Survivors include her daughter, Laura North of Rockville, MD; son, Martin Fay of Cape Coral, FL; "adopted" daughter, Lisa Bettke of Trumbull, CT; step-daughter, Jane Silane of River Edge, NJ; stepsons, Kurt Sonderman of Woodland Park, CO; Christopher Sonderman of Oro Valley, AZ; and David Sonderman of Norway; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and brothers, C. David Hartmann of Annandale, VA; and James Hartmann of St. Paul, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands James Bump and Douglas Sonderman and dear friend Robert St. Laurent.
