Amy Lamborn Mills, age 91, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Preston and Miles, Iowa, Springfield, Michigan, and Beverly Hills, Florida, died Saturday, November 26, 2016, in Jacksonville, Florida. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017, in the Miles City Cemetery, Miles, Iowa. A reception will follow the service. Amy was born July 22, 1925, the daughter of Robert and Lula (Frahm) Lamborn in Clinton, Iowa. She attended Preston High School and graduated with the Class of 1942. After graduation, Amy earned her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science from Iowa State University in 1946 and 1955, respectively. On August 20, 1959, Amy married Donald Mills in Preston, Iowa. They celebrated 21 years of marriage until Donald's death on July 28, 1981.
Amy taught clothing construction in Spokane, Washington; taught home economics and science at Spencer High School in Spencer, Iowa; and was a Professor of Home Economics at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. She was a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron, Omicron Nu, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, beading, making jewelry, knitting, crocheting and travelling.
Amy will be dearly missed by her son, Franklin Mills, daughter-in-law, Barbara Burns, and granddaughter, Celeste Mills, of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her parents, Robert and Lula.
